Privacy policy and cookie notice

What we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how to switch off the advertising cookies if you want to.

Last updated: 3 November 2026

1. Who we are

EduTourChina is an independent study-in-China guidance service. We are not a Chinese government agency, a university admissions office or a scholarship awarding body. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit www.edutourchina.com or send us an enquiry.

For anything relating to this policy or your data, write to [email protected]. That address is our contact point for data protection matters and we answer requests within 30 days.

2. What we collect

We collect two kinds of information: what you type into a form, and what your browser sends automatically when it loads a page.

Cookies

The cookies this site actually uses

We keep this list short on purpose. If we add a tool that sets a new cookie, this table gets a new row.

Cookie / storageTypePurposeDuration
etc_consentEssential (local storage)Stores your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear on every page.Until you clear browser storage
__cf_bm, cf_clearanceEssential (first party)Set by our hosting provider for bot protection and security.30 minutes to 1 year
Google advertising cookiesThird party (advertising)Served by Google to select and measure advertising. Only set after you accept.Up to 13 months
Google Analytics cookiesNot usedThis site does not currently run Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics product.—

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.

Advertising

Third-party advertising and your choices

This site is free to use. If we display advertising, it is how the guidance stays free — and it is entirely under your control.

Google AdSense

We may use Google AdSense to display advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. This includes the use of the DoubleClick cookie, which lets Google and its partners serve interest-based advertising rather than contextual advertising alone.

How to opt out

You are not required to accept advertising cookies, and opting out does not restrict any part of this site:

  • Google Ads Settings — turn off personalised advertising across Google services at google.com/settings/ads.
  • Google's advertising technologies — how Google uses cookies in advertising is set out at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
  • Other vendors — opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
  • In Europe — the industry opt-out page for interest-based advertising is at youronlinechoices.com.
  • In your browser — most browsers let you block third-party cookies entirely. Doing so stops personalised advertising but not contextual advertising.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information, we do not pass your enquiry details to advertisers, and we do not allow advertising to be targeted using the information you type into our forms. Advertising systems see a page request, not your enquiry.

Consent is recorded and reversible. Advertising cookies are only set after you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings — the banner will reappear and you can refuse.
Sharing

Who else sees your information

🏢

Our hosting provider

Cloudflare hosts this site and processes request data on our behalf. Standard contractual clauses cover transfers outside your country.

📧

Our email provider

Enquiries reach us through an email service. Messages are stored in that mailbox and in our records, not shared further.

📊

Google, if advertising is on

Google receives page-level data through the ad script. It does not receive the contents of your enquiry form.

⚖

Authorities, only if required

We disclose information if a valid legal request compels it, and we tell you unless we are legally barred from doing so.

Retention and rights

How long we keep it, and what you can ask for

Enquiry records are kept for three years from our last contact, so that a student who returns a year later is not starting over. After that they are deleted.

Your rightWhat it means in practice
AccessAsk for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
CorrectionHave inaccurate details corrected — a wrong intake year is the most common case.
DeletionAsk us to delete your enquiry and records. We action this within 30 days unless a legal obligation requires retention.
ObjectionObject to processing based on legitimate interests, including any profiling.
PortabilityReceive the details you gave us in a machine-readable format.
Withdraw consentWithdraw advertising or marketing consent at any time; this does not affect processing already carried out.
ComplaintComplain to your local data protection authority. In the UK that is the ICO; in the EU, your national supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected] with enough detail for us to locate your record. We do not charge for these requests.

Children

This site is intended for people planning higher education, who are normally 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us an enquiry, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and enquiry data is stored in access-controlled systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit who can read enquiry records and we do not hold payment card data at all.

International transfers

We operate from China and use service providers in other countries, including the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or on standard contractual clauses with the provider.

Changes to this policy

If we add a new tool that changes what we collect, this page is updated and the date at the top changes. Material changes are announced on the about page for 30 days.

Contact

Email [email protected], call or message +86 177 4202 6990, or use the contact form.
